Fun Baby Tricks
Care of National Geographic: How to train you baby to be a snake charmer!
Apparently all I need is one baby (got one!), one cobra (working on it), and probably a few vials of antivenom in case Madeleine's beginner's luck runs out prematurely. If you want your kid to be good at something, teach them early...
Imagine what a great trick this would be for her to show off when company comes over!

In Season
The hardcore city farmer fans of our site are calling for less baby and more veges! Well sorry folks, the baby is pretty cute,so those pictures aren't going away anytime soon.
But to keep the peace, here are some delightful, rosy cheeked, super sweet baby radishes. Just as tasty and fresh as our baby!

A Tasty Alternative
Our baby is so cute and so popular someone named a cookie after her! They're all egg and butter and sugar and just enough flour (fourth ingredient) for them to count as a cookie. Yummy! And they don't cry or spit up!

Pretty in Pink
This picture is a few days old, when she had just a little tint of yellow. Now that's cleared up, and she is just pink and cute and hungry. And sleepy too, but Mommy is about to take her out for a latte, so look out for the bright eyed baby!
Soccer Night in Portland
Last night was Madeleine's first trip out to a sports event, the Green Machine's season finale at Soccerplex. Despite Daddy scoring a super goal with 2 seconds left in the game, it wasn't enough to prevail.
I turned to see what Lil' M thought of the goal.... and she was asleep.

Timber!
I know everyone is excited about the baby, but that wasn't the only thing that happened on the 18th... I cut down a tree too! In fact, I was cutting down the tree until I was informed (quite unexpectedly) that we were heading in to the hospital. To be honest, I had already imagined taking a trip to the hospital this day, but I figured it would be something involving ME and a saw, or ladder, or falling limb.
Fortunately, I'm still in one piece and not only do we have a new baby, but also a newly sunny backyard... what success!

mom and baby and tulip
1 day old or so in this picture, and everyone looks cozy. Madeleine apparently likes tulips, and mom obviously loves her baby!
out of the hospital!
Mission accomplished- we all got out of the hospital early (yesterday). We had a followup appointment with the Pediatrician this morning to make sure Madeleine isn't getting too jaundiced, and that went well. Now if we could all just get some sleep!!
Naptime
Its kind of a dark and low resolution picture taken from the phone, but she's still cute!
Oh, and I think we have a middle name: Madeleine Rose. We had 2 other close contenders that were winning last night, but this morning when we had to fill out the paperwork, Rose won. Is it because everyone complements her on her pink rosebud lips? Is it because she was born in the City of Roses? Or is it just a pretty name? Regardless, we hope she likes it!
Breastfeeding
Today we will try for better quality breastfeeding. Its nice to have helpful nurses and lactation consultants, but I've been reading books about it too. I found this picture particularly helpful....

Sunny Day
It was a sunny warm day today for Madeleine's 1 day old birthday party. After 9 months in the dark, she likes napping in the sun!
Baby Makes 3!
4/18 @ 7:08 pm: Madeleine joined us a few days early by an unscheduled (but not emergency) C-section. All is well with Mom and Baby, both of whom are sleeping contentedly right now.
According to the OB nurses, Ms Madeleine is the cutest baby in the nursery! While I'm sure they tell every new parent the same thing, I'm also pretty sure its only true for our little girl!
I'll try to get some more pictures up here soon...

37 weeks
Spring is baby time! The weather is getting nice (70s today), flowers and trees are in bloom, and the baby is still getting bigger. And bigger. And bigger.
